This spring season our packaging is adorned with the celebratory Maha Rabana – each drum adorned with our signature floral motifs, inspired by traditional motifs from the grand Royal palaces of ancient Ceylon.
The Maha Rabana was the grandest of the drums used in old Ceylon. The special feature of this drum was that it was played by two or more people at the same time, each using both hands. People gathered around the Rabana on celebratory auspicious occasions & played it in various rhythmic chants & beats, as symbols of joy, celebration & coming together. The sounds of its rhythmic beats continue to be a hallmark of the Ceylonese New Year Spring Festival, in celebration of a bountiful spring harvest.
